Child with question of why...

On my way home from work I listened to a child and mother conversation, where all the child questions start with “WHY”. Listening to them for almost half an hour, I realised that question of why have deep rooted on every child that it look like they were born with it.

This conversation taught me that everybody during the journey of parenthood will face the process of answering “the WHY” question from his/her child.

One can ask how come they never stop even when the perfect answer was given to them. The truth is before their life began, curiosity of what is going on around them, what are right, what is safe and the good and bad will draw them to ask “WHY”.Some will even ask why the sky is blue, Why do I have to share my food? Where the babies come from, why grandmother dies? Why do I have to say thank you? Why do I have to forgive my brother?

On hearing this million questions some mothers will get angry whereas some will ignore the question. The fact is, to be able to deal with “ the WHY” question you will establish patient and find a unique style of answering them because every child expect answer from all his/her question.
However, below is the sequence of conversation between the child and the Mother:
Mom the child said why are we in this bus?
Mother. . . Because we need to get home in time
Child. . . Why
Mother . . . Because we are tried
Child. . . Why are we tried?
Mother . . . Because we are tried
Child . . . Why this particular bus?
Mother. . . Because is the bus Golden Arrow management have for those going to Parklands
Child . . . Where is Gold Arrow?
Mother . . . Over there
Child… Why there?
Mother… Because . . .

The mother keeps quiet. The child noticed the mother is no longer in the mood to answer more questions she turned to her mother’s friend on her right hand side and continued her question. I realised that answering these question required one’s own strength and willingness. For there were many questions we can’t ignore for the sake of love, family and happiness.

Truly, there is nothing more interesting than to allow and encourage your child to ask you as many questions as possible. You are the first teacher in their life before the world teaches them the rest.

Dreaming about wedding cake in the middle of the road

It happened three nights ago, although is a dream but it still bugging me.
Inside the four corners of my room, what stand next to me was my dream queen with the figure and styles I always wanted from a woman. Next to her was an engagement ring, I reach it and grab her finger, and said,

In the middle of the road is where I try to find you.
I stand in the middle of life with my pains behind me
With pains of the past relationship trying to pull me down
I spot you with a smile that is killing all the living things around you
As God create the world through unknown
Unknown we meet in the middle of this road
And as long as we aren’t dropping a bomb on this path
Come on baby
For today, tomorrow and future
In this middle of the road, like a fat man driving around in jeeps
Can my big diamond ring fit?
Can we call on the world and ask them to join us?
To make this wedding cake in the middle of the road reality
Get in the road of destiny with me
You are the wedding cake I found in the middle of the road
Please marry me”

She said to me. . . Please, tell the world we found happiness in the middle of this road… let our future start today. Just like British royal weeding between Kate Middleton and Prince Harry, we released our weeding programme and wed three weeks after the engagement.

Inside my head, there comes a knock. Dude, wake up…is half past six, my brother said. Time for school I guess.

It is a poor idea to lie to yourself.

Honestly, I have sent half an hours trying to understand why we do it. Why parents lie to their kids about something. Why partners lie about something he or she didn’t like. Why employers lie about the reason he/she was later at work. Customer service lies about the warranty of a product. Politicians lie during their political campaigns.

Why do we lie to ourselves? What causes this human dishonest? Is it a temptation or just intentional. Are we doing it when we want something from somebody or we don’t want to punish for something. Can it be because we are afraid we will hurt someone’s feeling or are we doing it to protect someone or something?

C’mon is plain stupid to fool ourselves. The truth is lies will always come back to hurt us soon or later. We might not feel the immediate pains the moment we do it but the true is it hurt our world and life of those around us. It hurts our love ones and destroys the world we plan to build for better tomorrow.

Internet: a gift to my generation

The internet is a result of some visionary thinking by people in the early 1960’s who saw great potential in allowing computers to share information. Since then the internet had grown tremendously and had doubled in size such that in the year 2000 over 420 million computers had joined the league. In 2006 more than one billion users were recorded, while the expectation is that the 2 billion mark will be reached by 2011.

This wonderful invention expands its wing into the heart of young people and deeply eats into Universities, organizations, companies, governments in a way that nothing can be done without its knowledge. It increasingly affects the way we live. This mighty universe became a small place because of the things we do on the internet like online banking, shopping, surfing, businesses and so forth.

Nowadays, the internet influences young people to extend that most of them spent a lot of time surfing the Net. To some the internet is a place to study for exams or do homework, shopping and recreation. Some other it keeps everyone informed. It is a wonderful resource for information about diseases, world news, parenting tips, and many other things. It provides a vast library of knowledge. We literally have the world at our fingertips. Anything can be research at any time, day and night. The internet is worldwide and therefore people are introduced to other culture, beliefs, history, and geography.

Before we became over overwhelmed by the invention of the internet, let’s not forget the negative affects it is having on us. We must understand that the internet is a double edged sword that can harm its users the same way it help them. It’s estimated that 18% of students do their research in the library, whereas 82% prefer using the internet which shows how lazy we are. And excessive sitting in front of the computer screen can harm people’s eyes. Other diseases such as headache, stomachache and back pain are result from exposure to computers. The Internet separate us from the real world leading to poor communications, poor spellings and poor writing skills among the young people because they are far away from family meeting and there is no face to face conversation anymore. Online predators are always out preying on young people who will give away their personal information.

The internet may be flooded with information, but this does not necessary mean it’s a reliable source of information. I cannot count the number of times my friends has come up with information that contains incorrect facts from the sites that have been created by unqualified person on the topic in question. “About 86% of information found on the internet is simply made up”, says an anonymous Public Relations student of Cape Peninsula University of Technology. “Beside improving our knowledge and offering games and short videos I think that the internet increasingly affects in bad people physically and emotionally” continued the Public Relations student. Enjoy internet but . .

The sound of one hand clapping

It was Sunday morning 11:45 AM on 04/12/2010, Mr. Dennis Igboanugo was called upon by His Lord’s sheep Bishop Justin Nwokeji, Jr., the Set man of Finger of God Ministries Int.to come and testify what the Lord has done for him. With tears of joy and praises from his month he come onto the stage and tells the story of one hand clapping.

At first the congregation looked confuse and lost over what make this grown man cry. Some who know half the story almost joined him (cry) and others who come to seek God’s face and his mercy were cut in the middle of this earthly drama.

It started around 1999(over 10 years ago) he said, “I married like every other young man of my age and we want a child like any other married couple. In the middle of two and three years as married couple no answer to our dream. No child to name our already list and choose names”. We face choice of visiting specialist or God. We choose hospital. Hospitals after hospitals doctors after doctors no answer found. We decide to call on the name of the most-high God and his son- Jesus Christ but on hearing of the name half the church stoop up and start screaming.

Next to him were his wife and a child, the man point at the child and said this is the answer of our cry to God and answer of 10 year of childless and sleepless night. The church erupted into a grotesque clapping. The atmosphere instantly becomes min-heaven with sound of claps and excitement. The crowds stand up some run to the pulpit, some throwing money at him and some speechless. He looked at me who was beside him with sound of my hand clapping near his ears and he looked up at heaven, where he found the only one sound he could hear, the invisible sound that matters at that moment. The sound of one hand that clap when he need a sound-the sound of hand of God.

Not all who wander are lost: Aragon vs. today's wanderers

                                                                    Photos source: amoeba.com
“Not all who wander are lost” is a popular quote from a movie “ Lord of the Rings”. Aragon the character in the movies wondered most of his life trying to understand the world and his destiny. In the path of his wandering he becomes the hero he was destined to be- the crowned King Elessar Telcontar. During the time of wandering he found the path of greatness and the path that lead to the way of light. His time of lost basically prepared he for the throne.

The character of Aragon teach us not all who wander are lost. Basically in real life we have this perception that those who wander are lost. That is not the case, because once in our lives we have cut in the middle of wandering without clear road and directions or destination in mind. It could be in your path to define your destiny or road to your career. The fact is most of the successful people today have once wandered till they found the path that lead to their success just like Aragon.

Today you may not seem to have direction or a path to follow, doesn’t mean that you are lost. Keep faith and courage in your journey of no direction there is path you can create. Path you will follow. I am one of you. . .tomorrow we will laugh. Today we are the wanderers.

As a result of the Internet, markets are getting smarter, more informed, more organized.Participation in a networked market changes people fundamentally

12 years after the Cluetrain Manifesto was written and we are being asked in the class to pick one of the 95 theses and present it in Zen style-Garr Reynolds. I picked No 10. We also instructed to write a report which must contain a fuller explanation of both the speaker notes and the slides show. In the report we must explain the origin of the thesis (the world in 1999) as well as its application in modern day society (the world in 2011). However, the thesis 10 which is one of the most important of the 95 theses as it explained the development on the way we do business will be explain in four parts: the Markets conversation, the industry revolution, the Internet revolution and people participation in the Internet-worked market.

The markets conversations
In the early days, the market was about conversation. The market is a place where people go to interact with other people, see friends, sell their goods, and listen to what is happening in the other towns or communities. According to (Bennett, 2000), “people go to the market to display their wares to all who would see, touch, and smell them. People discuss which merchants were fair, who had the best quality, and so on”. Levine, Locke, Searls & Weinberger (1999:7), point out that “the market was the center of human interaction, where polities, society and business merged and the market was the heart of the city”. The marketplace was the conversations.

The Industry revolution
The industries revolutions interrupt the market conversation. Bring with it mass production and organized market in a way that look little smart but not organized. What the marketplace was known for (conversation) was lost. Craftsmanship also disappeared and corporations take over the business. People couldn’t make suggestions or ask for new features. People were to buy the product- any colour they wanted as long as it was black (Levine, Locke, Searls & Weinberger, 1999:7). On the other hand, workers were not allowed to make suggestion. They were instructed to do what they were told. With mass media markets change the look. “People were manipulated into buying the last and greatest because TV told them and the market became a one-way street, aimed directly at the consumers” (Bennett, 2000).

Internet Revolution: people talking to people.
The Internet entered into the picture with new ways that changed the nature of the marketplace and introduced the global market that makes things smarter, organized and informed in bigger way (new marketplace). “A powerful global market has began. Through the Internet, people are discovering and inventing new ways to share relevant knowledge with blinding speed. As a direct result, markets are getting smatter- and getting faster than most companies” (Levine, Locke, Searls & Weinberger, 1999). The new market (Internet market) brings down the old business-as-usual and gave us the greatest conversation that we once lost (Traditional market). Now thousands of people can talk to each other in a way that could never be imagined. They tell each other the latest cafés, which car is best or what doctors give the best care. Business instantly began to go online and people began to get information online. The Internet organized the market and we could no longer hear the voice of those who want to sell us half-truth about their products and services. “The markplace returned with a vengeance, become smarter, more organized and informed” (Bennett, 2000).

Participation in Internetworked market changes people fundamentally
Participation in the internetworked market changes people deeply. I know it because the Internet changed me and thousands of people I talk to everyday. The best way to explain our involvement in internet participation is to tell my own story-now I have a voice that my fathers did not have. Some of the time I forget to watch news on television up to weeks because I have internet on my hands. All I will do is to type news address and in a few seconds information of what is happening in the other parts of the world will pop-out front of my computers. If I want to sell something I don’t need to go to the market to look for a buyer, just put the photos and my address with my contract number online for the buyer to see. I can now write my own story about what is going on around me for the world to read (Blog) even read the story of my friends in another country within a minute. Internet participation has transformed us and changed us like never before. With such conversations market gets smarter, more informed and more organized.

How do you step from the top of a 100-foot pole?

Stepping off a 100-foot pole is an idiom expression just like the fish falling from sky. And it will mean different thing to different human beings and to me it means step out of your comfort zone and achieve success. But how does one step out is the question? Courage and determination is the first key in this journey. You have to look at it this way- if you want to succeed in life, you would do anything, commit everything and even work extra miles to achieve excellence, and that required persistent and determination.

Being positive is another way to step off a 100-foot pole. Yes, being positive is one thing most people that step off have kept in mind. They keep their goals and dreams in their mind and always positive. They never see failure as part of living but risks and positive as a way to successes. You have to be positive all the time. But just positive is not enough. You need to know how to go about it too.

Learn from your other mistakes or other people mistake will also guide you in stepping off a 100-foot pole. Did you know that those successful people make thousands of mistakes before they become successful? But the different between them and those who are still trying to step out of their safety zone or 100-foot pole is how they have turn the entire mistakes and used it as motivation.

The step off 100-foot pole is a journey you have to take step by step, follow it in easy way and it will lead you to success bigger than the sky, world beyond your thinking, and happiness that is apparent as daylight. Just follow the guide and you can make your world boom

Three different bloggers of different genres

Writing blog is easy to these three of my favorite blogger: Marian Pike-Teaching and social media, Jayne Boachie- Contemporary theory and issues in PR and Nicholas Haralambous- South Africa, Travel and politics. Writing like them is not impossible. I am not there yet, but I will make it. Since I subscribed to Pike’s blog this particular topic: Living online drawn my attention as she spoke about social media and our world. Research about gender imbalance in PR brings me to Jayne’s blog and every day activities in South Africa landed me on Nicholas’s blog. These three blog musketeers instantly become my inspiration in climbing a top of 100-foot pole- a blogger.

My opinion on living online:
I agree with Pike about impact of social Media in our lives
It’s interesting write up. As she spoke about people have a voice now as a result of social media. “I found it astonishing that one person can actually have as big of a voice online”.
Social media conversations completely overthrow business.
It’s funny which help to draw people attention. “I could be a celebrity, except for the fact that nobody is watching, listening or noticing”.
Social media revolution is a bad business for corporations.

My opinion on feminization of PR and the Glass Ceiling:
I totally agree with Jane about gender imbalance in PR industries.
In disagreement on the some of the reasons like the industry is flexible for women up to a certain up and women are better communicator than men.
It’s a fact that in spite of women dominance men still occupied top positions in PR industry.

My opinion on pay traffic fines online:
Nicholas promotes the good things that happen every day in South Africa. Positive and honest. “Country filled with diversity, enthusiasm, confusion, frustration about above all, hope”.
We are now living online. So paying traffic fines online will easy the daily long queues in traffic department offices.
The story is a leading issue in South Africa as it contributes to the economic growth.
I like his understanding of today's South Africa.

My choice and I

Remember what I told you about myself some months back,” I AM” that I’m not the best nor the worst but I am one of those in the middle hoping that one day my specimen will make history in the world of corporate communication and social media.

I completed my bachelors in history and international relations but found communication and social media more in interesting and here I am doing what I like best in Public Relations-communications, social media.

I am detail oriented, social realist-warm-hearted, popular, conscientious and very career minded and willing to work and walk an extra miles to achieve excellence. I am a Christian and believed in death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as a matter of fact I devoted half of my time trying to understand why there is so much evil in our generation.

I believe in my country-Nigeria and Africa, hoping that one day Africa will have a voice and free herself from superpowers. I am of the thesis that talent is programme at birth into a selected few. That God gave every individual something-talent to help us survival. So succeed or fail dependent on how you used.
