Two perfect moments vs. top 200 achievements

Certainly, list top 200 achievements is quite a lot, not that to achieve them is not impossible but listing them here will take space and time. But there are two perfect moments in my life that shadow hundreds and thousands of my top 200 achievements.
First, against all odds, I am the only cell out of other thousands cells to reach my mother’s womb. I was the first graduate in my family, who at the graduation day smile with none of my family member around to celebrate with me. The other was here in South Africa, gaining admission to study Public Relations Management.
These two perfect moments, I put them on here so any moment I wake up see them every morning, perfect moments they can inform my day and see me in right direction. These perfect moments have shadow life of pains, humiliations and rejections.

I pledge my allegiance to what motivate me

I was so taken by her dream. To move to antiquated little town, transporting her child to school on a bicycle built for two, grow old with her husband and her grandchildren and travel to see the World. Every night I hear this story, with smile and applaud I promise her all a child can do to bring happiness to his mother.
My mother is a woman of purpose and destiny. A perfect design to inspire me, special and unique, beauty in the soul and love God. She is my hero. She shows me how to live. She set my feet on a path of truth and road that will lead me to my destiny.
I pledge my allegiance to you, mother for motivate me to be where I am today.
I pledge my allegiance to you for confidence you built on me, for the perfect relationship. We were more than family, as well as son and a mother. I never doubted that you love me.
I LOVE U, MAMA!!!

Sunday Service, We celebrate Mama's legacy

Yesterday! We went to church to give thanks to the Lord, for the death of my mother and praise him for her life well spent and had a wonderful time with God and  Mama’s friends. I always love been in the presence of God because in his presence there is fullness of joy. Makes me feel so happy to be back in Nigeria where it all began. Although it rain all night but the sun is finally out again and I am so thankful.
And to my mother, to whom I owe so much, I simply say, thank you. Rest well, Mama. By God’s grace, we will see you again. I pray for everyone here today. Touch each heart and give strength and peace. Thank you for Mama’s legacy. May it continue across the generations in the lives of those who knew her best. We rejoice that for Mama, the best has already begun. Help us to keep believing until that day when the Lord calls us home too. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Thank you that all your promises are Yes! and Amen in Christ Jesus!!!

10 most unexpected consequences of being online

  1. Finding out that I was known by what I know and defined by what I shared online.
  2. Participation in online conversation changes people fundamentally.
  3. The fact that just on a click of button what I have said and say to, information I click on, where am from and even where am go has been tremendous.
  4. Your friends has turn to a celebrity on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter just that you aren't watching.
  5. Seeing Mr. Google as Internet big brother who shows up to organize all the information in a way that is quicker and faster.
  6. More married women than ever before are jumping in the sack with someone other than their husbands on Facebook chat.
  7. It is good you want to share all your information, your birthday and latest pictures with strangers, but know what you are risking.
  8. It’s dangerous to give everything online. Through online we know everything, everything related to what we need, what we are looking for, blogging about, interested in, reading and click on.
  9. Remember the good old days when we could stay up all night chatting with real people who live in our locality, now we stay up to fooling around with people that couldn't be there for us when we need them.
  10. Being online helped people discover new ways to share relevant knowledge with blinding speed.

The boy who married elephant in the room

They all grouped. Everyone present ready to air his/her view. Then they squeeze by, “How are you?” and “How is family,” and other thousands of different minor chats. They talk about life. Talk about work. They talk about everything else, expect the elephant in the room (the Outcast).
The eldest, stood up knowing full well the controversy it would ignite, if he raised the issue. He looks like he is not afraid to talk about the “elephant in the room”. However, given the ugly reaction from the other member of his family last time the issue was raise, not to mention the years and years of dispute, he “let the cat out of the bag”. “He must not marry her, an outcast “OSU” he said.
Osu are the people, according to tradition, in the south east Nigeria (Igboland) dedicated to the gods; regards by the others (the freeborn) as slaves, strangers and outcasts. They are subject to various forms of abuse; live separately from others. They cannot marry a freeborn. It means defiles the family. So freeborn families are always up in arms against any of their members who wants to marry an Osu.
He want to married her notwithstanding what stand between them. Now the issue has been raised, his whole family once again is in crisis. He covered his face and let the tears flow uncontrollable. He raised his head and watch, listening as they raise their voice against each other. As he watch the scenario and can’t bear it anymore as they stood and battle for this future, he told them what he wants and that he will marry her with their blessing or not. There was a silent in the room. He took her by the hand and walk away.

Every day is a good day

When my mother died, my brother (Dennis and his wife) and I stayed two weeks with Chinenye (Dennis’s daughter) and never left the house. Chinenye’s birth, her smile, hope, family life, and friends helped us to understand that every day is a good day. Her life is a journey of faith with God that begins the moment we trust Christ.
Every day we are confronted with feelings of grief

On April 17, I wake up earlier than the other members of our household, usually around 5am to prepare for one duty I have mastered since in moved to South Africa (school via work). After praying and writing the activities for the day on a Sticky Notes on my Laptop, take a shower, setting the turn to school, but before then I prepare coffee. I put in the milk to allow the coffee to soften, and put one spoon of sugar. Aunil and I like coffee with toast bread. When the time to head off to school, I shift the coffee and the breed to microwave, and head off.
My brother usually woke up earlier.  When I opened the garage door, around 6am, he didn’t so I press the remote key again and the garage door closed. At the bus stops, there is usually queue on every Monday morning but on this Monday morning there is no queue, notwithstanding is the first day of the week and most people go to work.  There, one by one, we stood together at the Parklands main Road waiting for bus. This has been my routine since I moved to South Africa, on 3rd December 2008. I never complain or get upset (using public transport) because, Lama Govinda writes that, “All suffering arises from attitude. The world is neither good nor bad. It is solely our relationship to it which makes it either one or the other." And I believe that.
In school I called home to speak to my mother but was told she couldn’t come on phone because of her condition. Health condition at young age is not a problem, but at this age is something to worry about. Later that day, we had the news that she is death. I felt that my life is coming to end. I felt cold, and cried the whole night. I don’t getting much sleep that night nor eat that night. I felt like the world was over. My mother and I never had a perfect relationship, but who does? I’m the last born and the most adored. We were more than family, as well as son and mother and definitely had our share of troubles.  But, we always worked past them and never doubted that we loved each other.
Friends and the new born queen (Chinenye -the sound of one hand clapping) changed all that grief. Chinenye is very pretty also blond.  Friends always to say she is gift of God and she is our mother that come back to us. Today we are happy. Leaving with her warm smiles and playfully character. We take each day a good day notwithstanding our lost.  One moment, I miss her(mother), feel that pain and lost; the next, joy and peace. This all occurs in the mind; we create the world we live in. We sometimes cannot change the circumstances we live in, but we can always change our attitude. If we can learn to let go, it will change by itself (Nonin Chowaney).

Our greatest strengths are our greatest weaknesses

I was told to succeed in life I need knowledge and in order to acquire knowledge I need education which will gain me exposure and better career to succeed in life. Those without education are unable to survive properly. Education tells us how to think, work and make decisions. Through education we have access to basic things in life: food, clothe and shelter. I remember clearly how scared I was after this mother and child conversation. Since then education became my greatest strengths in the race to succeed, how to go about it(the challenges, finances, and class competition) became the greatest weakness.

The New Face of May 29: Goodluck Jonathan

May 29 is the beginning of a new government in Nigeria. On this particular day and month after elections the President and Vice President will be inaugurated into office. The forefathers had chosen the date of May 29 after the independent from Britain because it took weeks to collect and count the votes and to allow those who will go to Presidential Election Tribunal to challenge the outcome of the elections results before those elect get into office. In a tradition dating to the 1960, Presidents are not publicly inaugurated on Sundays but this year inauguration fall on Sunday, which marked it a historical inauguration.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo, were the new face of this year inauguration following their victory in April general election. At the Eagle square in Abuja hopes were very high as 150 million Nigerians watched the first man from South-South/ South-East to be inaugurated as the President of the most populous black nation on earth.
Although this year polls were the very first both national and foreign observers “ever considered free and fair” but not free from violence. An Islamic group from the Northern Nigerian called Boko Haram during the time of the election unleashes bombing to disturbed the poll. They claim that the poll was not free and fair that it was rigging to favour Jonathan.
Immediately after he was declared the win, Jonathan addresses the post-election violence and bombing of some part of the country by Boko Haram Islamic group and warns that the violent could threaten and plunged the country into instability.
Before he was elected into power, millions of Nigeria has put their faith to the man they called “new face of faith”- the luckiest man and new breed in Nigerian polities. They think he had answer to thousands of problems that deviating progress and development in the county. According to All Africa.com report, Jonathan was voted into power in his capacity as a person and not out of love for his party, the PDP. This voter behaviour should compel him to exercise independent judgment in his actions.
Nigerians believe that their assorted problems can be sort out by Jonathan and his government. Now they have elected him (fulfill their heart desire) and can he bring the faith to life or can he flop like those before him and all their promises. Nigerians were looking forward to Mr. President to demonstrate that he has the power and capacity to bring life and hope to them.

MyCiti bus on the row

No more late to work, no more standing on a long queues and no more read this boring and annoying stickers on the minitaxi, “ Don’t hurry me if you are late I’m on time’. The long awaiting integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) has launched their service to Captonians.
MyCiti offers commuters a suitable, steadfast and affordable means of public transport mostly to those travelling to Tableview and Parklands.
Now I understand the anger of minitaxi drives and owners when the system was implemented during the Fifa 2010 Soccer World Cup.
I am happy to say that what the city offer to those of us using public transport is freedom from the hands of “drunk and drive” minitaxi drivers. I use it this morning so I can tell you from the experience that is faster and comfortable.
The only issue that I have about MyCiti bus rapid transport is it has too many bus stations and stops when coming from Tableview to Civic Centre station in Cape Town.
The MyCiti bus routes include the following areas at the moment:
T1 Table View- Civic Centre
F14 Big Bay- Table View- Parklands East
F15 Parklands East- Table View- Blouberg Sands
F16 Marine Circle- Table View- Blouberg Sands
R27/ West Coast Rd
F1 Gardens- Civic Centre
Airport- Civic Centre
Apart from, what a fantastic and simple way to provide a standard public transport system to solve traffic congestion in most of South African roads.

Try a cliche

According to Wikipedia cliche is an expression, idea, or element of an artistic work which has been overused to the point of losing its original meaning or effect, rendering it a stereotype, especially when at some earlier time it was consider meaningful or novel. The term is frequently used in modern culture for an action or idea which is expected or predictable, based on a prior event. Cliches are not always false or inaccurate. Cliches may or may not be true.

Based on the meaning, we on the daily basis try cliches. We use it in many of our discussions and in our writing. Here is the list of most common used cliches and its meaning I found interesting.

"Misery loves company" - The sad people expect others to join their sorrow.

"Love is blind" - Love makes us oblivious to the faults of the object of love.

"There’s no such thing as a free lunch" - In life everything has a price.

"Robbing Peter to pay Paul" - Take money from one person to pay another person.

"As good as gold" - The person behave very well.

"Foot loose and fancy free" - This denotes being free of responsibilities.

"Laughter is the best medicine" - This suggests that laughter helps cure illnesses.

To me cliche deliver so much in our daily lives, but in the other hand mean nothing. We have circle around it as they were born with us.

Feelings follow behaviour

In the process of climbing on the ladder of adulthood there is one thing that will have a dramatic effect on your success or failure. This thing is the battle between you and your desire to success. Every day you make a decision you have it as a first choice before any other things. It is important in every man’s life because we face it on a daily basis. It rules our lives and controls our reactions
It is your feelings toward everything you do in life. Consider for a moment the important of this word “Feeling” in your life. To success or fail you must understand the connection between your feelings and your behaviour, for the feelings follow the behaviour. If you want to control your behaviour you must first control your feelings. For instance: when your behaviour is sinful your feelings will accuse you. The accusation will enter you through your feelings and affect your behaviour.

Death and All His Friends

My sister calls came in around 1: 00am in April 17. It was to my brother’s phone not mine even if is mine at that time of the morning I wonder what would be the outcome. The second ring proofs his hesitation to pick the call. It rings third time, now I can hear it more clearly through the opening that connects his room and mine. The ringing didn’t call only me out of sleep, I guess the wife could hear it too. His phone ringing tone is the type that wakes a new born baby from their endless connection with the man (God) that brings them to this world.( Don’t worry. It is not why we are here.)

The fourth call repeated. That was when I hear what will change my course of the year. What will affect all the dreams I had. There my brother asked what the problem is. I can’t hear clearly but can get the message interpreted with my number six (brain). “Mother,” she replied. That, of course, was not news. Mom (if you will permit me to use that word) her name is a household thing that her dog (Beacon) can call that- what! – no no no- my brother come in. it can't be!

Before the call we spoke a week after, my mom over the phone describe the kind of wife she wanted me to have (although is not the first time we had that kind of conversation). What she wanted, in a word was a beautiful and homemade girl for me. How easy was that to achieve? In many ways, the girl will be a Christian. For my mum she was a believer and love God. (Oh yes, my mother called her name “Becky”. That was my ex-girlfriend. She didn’t even know she married on Eastern Monday. I can’t tell her. Sorry to hear it so later, Mom).

In the whole house I wouldn’t hear a sound again, as if the two of the phones were death. What follow was a shout. From who? the wife. I can’t hear my brother. A man I knew for all but for last two years I live with them (here in South Africa) his life I can infinitely said I understood more deeply. He is a man of courage and authority but his wife to shout at the early hour and he say nothing something is wrong. What could that be?
Then I’m up from my bed. I can hear the wife still talking, but in the name of God if I know is about death. I will say, my brother would want a silence, to allow him to think. To that-without telling her, for fear of wakening our neighbors- she added to silent of night. Without hesitation my brother breaks the news of how death and his friends visited my only thing, my inspiration and the anchor of my life (Mother).

Visitation of winter (you know how cold it is) and over the rooftops I can’t hear myself again. All the blood in my system ceases to flow. In summary, I can’t breathe, no, not like I used to. Spirit of death, I can’t be patient not again, not after you take my sister without a note. Now my mother, some will say they don’t want a recycling of revenge or a battle from you and all your allies. I want it. I want a fight to prove to the world how useless you are. How you move around taken what doesn’t belong to you, and how you are causing havoc among the people of God.

Sorry mom. I know you may not have wanted me to say all that but losing you when I needed you most. When I’m at the brink of making it. At the time to look after you and pay you for a man you made me to become. Is hard to forget. My Mother, born in Nigerian in 1939, a mother and child of God, grew up without brothers (Her biography). Sorry I didn’t give you all. But I love you so much.

It is better to practice a little than talk a lot: 5 tips on how to handle people with no action

“Actions speak louder than words”, is a popular saying. Does it make any meaning to you? YES, I guess most people will answer if is a job interview question. The truth is on your way to adulthood you might have come across people who tell you that those who talk the talk are not the real people who do the action. Basically, yes they are not. They only know how talk a lot and practise a little.

How do you handle them is the one million question? There are thousands people mostly the 21th century politicians give you all kinds of promises during their political campaign in the name of democracy and do little to back it up. Do you just tune them out when they come to you with those massages you know is only talk with no better practice? If you do I won’t blame you but some will say you are rude-meaning you can’t help to teach them the change they need.

Here is a few tips I found on how to deal with people with no action. We can’t change them all that is the fact. Maybe we can use this tips to live among them.

It’s absolutely meaningless try to persuade them to practice what they preach, because they don’t give dame about your feelings. So just sit and watch, which in the other hand don’t provide immediate answer but in a long run they will understand your point.

Point the pass promises, If is a Politian confront them immediately, (depending on the kind of person you are) and tell them the past promises. I think is the best way to stop them and to stop their talking infection and teach them is better to practice than to talk a lot.

Whatever they said during their cheap talk, do not overstretch. Just only listen and proof you point later.

You can choose not to listen to the person. Here the choice is yours. Deicide immediate to avoid jeopardize your credentials by becoming or acting like the person.

Lastly Zen proverbs said, although I am not a student of Zen but something answer can be found . . . “The ten thousand questions are one question. If you cut through the one question, then the ten thousand questions disappear”. Meaning you can learn to teach them because if you educate one today, you educate thousands tomorrow.

The five tips I think can help but don’t think they are the perfect otherwise I won’t pick your calls when you get beat up.

Child with question of why...

On my way home from work I listened to a child and mother conversation, where all the child questions start with “WHY”. Listening to them for almost half an hour, I realised that question of why have deep rooted on every child that it look like they were born with it.

This conversation taught me that everybody during the journey of parenthood will face the process of answering “the WHY” question from his/her child.

One can ask how come they never stop even when the perfect answer was given to them. The truth is before their life began, curiosity of what is going on around them, what are right, what is safe and the good and bad will draw them to ask “WHY”.Some will even ask why the sky is blue, Why do I have to share my food? Where the babies come from, why grandmother dies? Why do I have to say thank you? Why do I have to forgive my brother?

On hearing this million questions some mothers will get angry whereas some will ignore the question. The fact is, to be able to deal with “ the WHY” question you will establish patient and find a unique style of answering them because every child expect answer from all his/her question.
However, below is the sequence of conversation between the child and the Mother:
Mom the child said why are we in this bus?
Mother. . . Because we need to get home in time
Child. . . Why
Mother . . . Because we are tried
Child. . . Why are we tried?
Mother . . . Because we are tried
Child . . . Why this particular bus?
Mother. . . Because is the bus Golden Arrow management have for those going to Parklands
Child . . . Where is Gold Arrow?
Mother . . . Over there
Child… Why there?
Mother… Because . . .

The mother keeps quiet. The child noticed the mother is no longer in the mood to answer more questions she turned to her mother’s friend on her right hand side and continued her question. I realised that answering these question required one’s own strength and willingness. For there were many questions we can’t ignore for the sake of love, family and happiness.

Truly, there is nothing more interesting than to allow and encourage your child to ask you as many questions as possible. You are the first teacher in their life before the world teaches them the rest.
